muscari backing options
Wednesday, April 22, 2009

what exactly is the difference between an alligator clip, wire comb, and hair pin? good question. : )

pictures are worth a thousand words - as well as some of the pros and cons of each.. i hope this clarifies your options, but should you have any questions regarding recommendations, please feel free to contact us!

alligator clip:

PROS:
• it's a very versatile option. because it is a clip, it can actually be clipped onto a dress strap, purse pocket, or even a ribbon to be worn as a corsage (in addition to the hair of course!)
• it can be worn in basically any hair style, up or down. this is because it is clipped to the hair and does not depend on the tautness of an up-do
• just a note - this backing will hold a piece into hair, but it should not be used in the foundation or support of the hair style

CONS:
• though it will not slip out of the hair, the flower is not held as snugly to the head as with a wire comb

flexible wire comb:

PROS:
• holds the flower very snugly in the hair, slightly pulling it towards the head

CONS:
• requires a taut hair style to stay snug (will most likely not work in a completely down hair style - or will require some bobby pins)
• can only be used in the hair

hair pins:

PROS:
• allows very delicate or small flowers and jewelry to adorn the hair, with little or no clunky hardware visible

CONS:
• requires a taut up-do, and cannot be worn in a fully down hair style
• can only be worn in the hair
